href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/mcdonalds\/\"> McDonald\u2019s<\/a> restaurants across the UK, which serve everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/19\/cursed-70s-mcdonalds-menu-item-divides-opinion-fans-say-makes-want-gag-22022975\/\">McNuggets<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/12\/ranked-mcdonalds-burgers-best-one-absolutely-unreal-21781195\/\">cheeseburgers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/11\/mcdonalds-10-10-us-menu-item-back-can-see-sold-22168261\/\">milkshakes.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s only one that serves fast food <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/06\/mcdonalds-fans-convinced-item-available-uk-hasnt-8-years-22136603\/\">items which aren\u2019t available<\/a> to the general public, ahead of their launch on the menu. And what\u2019s even better is that all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/13\/forgotten-mcdonalds-menu-item-amazing-90s-many-dont-believe-existed-21979279\/\">food<\/a> in the restaurant is completely free to customers eating there. <\/p>\n<p>The catch is, not everyone can dine at the little-known <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/18\/supermarket-membership-like-costco-sells-favourite-fast-food-22206429\/\">McDonald\u2019s<\/a> location, as you need special access to get inside, and as such few fans will have been there. <\/p>\n<p>Thomas O\u2019Neill, the head of menu at McDonald\u2019s UK, gave <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/\">Metro<\/a><\/strong> the lowdown on the \u2018incredible\u2019 restaurant, which can be found inside the chain\u2019s headquarters in East Finchley, <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/\">London.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container (Picture: GOOGLE)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve worked at McDonald\u2019s for 15 years and a lot of that has been spent at the HQ building,\u2019 he explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s an inspirational place and there are different things going on every day. We have a university on-site where crew members can learn and develop, and we also have a restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The restaurant is what most people are interested in and it really is incredible as it looks and sounds like any other McDonald\u2019s restaurant, but the great thing about it is that we know all the staff and customers as they\u2019re our friends and colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We order at a kiosk, but it sometimes takes a bit longer to order my food as I’ll be busy talking.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/maranatha-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SEI_234251825-0662.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22253027\" alt=\"McDonald's Head Office East Finchley\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>The restaurant is the staff canteen, so only employees and visitors to the offices can eat there (Picture: GOOGLE)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The inside of McDonald’s HQ is quite secretive, and only staff and select guests are allowed inside the main office building, so we weren’t able to get a look at the mysterious restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>However, Thomas did reveal a few more details about it, sharing that it’s used as the staff canteen, so many employees will grab breakfast or lunch there during the day, and it\u2019s especially popular as food is free for those who work at McDonald\u2019s HQ. <\/p>\n<p>The other great thing about it is that you\u2019ll likely find food on the menu there that isn\u2019t available yet in \u2018the real world\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We put a lot of different things onto the staff restaurant menu, whether that\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/20\/mcdonalds-working-a-new-menu-item-unlike-anything-done-before-22030881\/\">potential new things<\/a> that we\u2019re putting on our menu here in the UK, or it could be something that\u2019s worked elsewhere so it\u2019s quite an exciting place to go and have lunch,’ he added.<\/p>\n<p>As well as off-menu items, staff are also able to enjoy new menu launches ahead of time. So while McDonald\u2019s customers across the UK are still eating the Christmas menu, with the Big Tasty and<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/19\/terrys-axes-unreal-chocolate-orange-christmas-fans-upset-22218787\/\"> Terry\u2019s Chocolate Orange<\/a> pie, those working at HQ might already be tucking into the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/19\/mcdonalds-unveils-menu-items-2025-new-burger-katsu-wrap-22216943\/\">items launching in January 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n<section class=\"metro-comment-cta\">\n<div class=\"metro-comment-cta__inner\"><span class=\"metro-comment-cta__text-wrap\"><title>Comment now<\/title><span class=\"metro-comment-cta__text\">Which off-menu items would you like to see in your local McDonald’s?<\/span><\/span><a class=\"metro-comment-cta__button\" href=\"#metro-comments-container\">Comment Now<\/a><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>The new menu was recently unveiled and will feature three never before sold items and some returning favourites.<\/p>\n<p>First up, for those who still miss the Katsu Curry Chicken <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/19\/cursed-70s-mcdonalds-menu-item-divides-opinion-fans-say-makes-want-gag-22022975\/\">Nuggets<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/12\/21\/mcdonalds-launches-katsu-curry-chicken-mcnuggets-13784795\/\">launched in the UK in 2021<\/a>, your prayers have been answered\u2026 well, kind of. McDonald\u2019s has put a twist on the beloved menu item, launching a Chicken Katsu Wrap which will cost just \u00a31.99 when purchased on a Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>For burger lovers, there\u2019s a new BBQ Ranch Stack, but if you prefer chicken to beef, then you\u2019ll be thrilled to hear the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse is coming back as well, giving you even more choice. <\/p>\n<p>If these menu changes weren\u2019t enough, you can go all out and order a side of Mozzarella Dippers to pair with your wrap or burger, as these are also returning with a tomato salsa dip in January.<\/p>\n<p>The whole meal can be rounded off with the brand new Milky Way McFlurry, a sweet treat that sees soft dairy ice cream swirled with milk chocolate stars and malt flavoured pieces topped with a chocolate sauce. <\/p>\n<p>All of these new items will be available for six weeks from January 6, except for the\u00a0 McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse which will sticking around a little longer, as it\u2019s available until May 6.
