Cadbury<\/a> is a king among British confectionery, famed for countless products including Dairy Milk<\/a>, Freddo, and Chocolate Buttons.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s even so beloved that it was named the UK\u2019s number one favourite chocolate brand in 2024 by The Grocer<\/a>, selling 59.2 million kg across the nations each year.<\/p>\n

But now, Cadbury fans have been left devastated \u2013 \u2018bereft\u2019 even \u2013 after one of its most popular products has disappeared from supermarket shelves. And it\u2019s not a chocolate bar, but the classic hot chocolate powder.<\/p>\n

Shoppers first noticed that supplies had mysteriously been removed in November, with the brand later confirming that it had been temporarily taken off sale due to quality issues.<\/p>\n

\u2018We have identified a food quality issue in Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products meaning in some instances the texture and colour of the product may not look as expected.\u2019<\/p>\n

As such, there was speculation that it would be returning to shelves this week, but fans are still waiting to get their fix. <\/p>\n

The product, which has now been likened to \u2018gold dust,\u2019 is still missing from online supermarkets as well as Amazon \u2013 and many consumers have noted that they\u2019re still struggling to get hold of it in stores.<\/p>\n

Notably, while the tub of \u2018instant\u2019 hot chocolate is currently available through the likes of Sainsbury’s online, the famed original is still missing.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve now purchased \u2018Belgian Chocolate Jar\u2019\u2026it\u2019s far more expensive, but I hope it\u2019s delicious, so I can say GOODBYE,\u2019 @RealNatalieRowe wrote on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u2018There is a nationwide shortage of Guinness and Cadburys have pulled their hot chocolate off the shelves too. What kinda madness is this?\u2019 @Inselaffe76 added, while @MaccoolKyeyune added that there was \u2018no sign\u2019 of the chocolatey goodness in any of their local supermarkets.<\/p>\n

For some, the situation has been simply unmanageable, as @ogbrack described themselves as \u2018bereft,\u2019 having been \u2018on the lookout every single day.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018the best things\u2019 they\u2019ve \u2018ever tasted.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, King Charles \u2018stripped\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/11\/cadbury-fans-hail-surprise-return-best-chocolate-18-22166482\/\"><strong>Cadbury<\/strong><\/a> of its <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/22\/king-charles-just-made-major-change-cadbury-chocolate-170-years-22235182\/\">Royal Warrant<\/a> for the first time in 170 years, after it was initially awarded by the late <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/queen-elizabeth-ii\/\"><strong>Queen Elizabeth<\/strong><\/a> II\u2019s great-great-grandmother, Victoria in 1854.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/05\/this-supermarket-just-got-king-charles-seal-approval-unexpected-reason-22129637\/\"><strong>Royal Warrant of Appointment<\/strong><\/a> is a document that appoints a company or individual the ability to advertise that they supply the Royal Household. As part of this, they are able to use the Royal Arms and \u2018By Appointment to\u2026\u2019 label in connection with their business.<\/p>\n<p>It also has a financial benefit, with research by Brand Finance suggesting in 2017 that Royal Warrant holders may earn 5% of their revenue as a result of it. <\/p>\n<p>King Charles and<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/camilla-parker-bowles\/%5D\"><strong> Queen Camilla <\/strong><\/a>issued around 400 Royal Warrants on December 19, which last for up to five years.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of these (386) were renewed warrants that were granted by the late Queen, including <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/17\/kelloggs-just-made-a-major-change-corn-flakes-cereal-66-years-22203492\/\"><strong>Kellogg\u2019s cereal<\/strong><\/a> and Moet champagne.
