There is nothing quite like a bag of classic Walkers crisps when you’re feeling snacky.

And now, a new flavour is here to level up your ordinary crisps: Extra Flamin’ Hot.

The spicy offering was already available across Walkers Max, Doritos and Wotsits Crunchy, but this will be the first time Walkers has added the flavour to its classic packets of crisps.

After the success of the Extra Flamin’ Hot options, Walkers said there was ‘no better time to pair Britain’s most loved crisps with our incredibly popular Extra Flamin’ Hot’, adding that it was the ‘first spicy Walkers core offering.’

But a word of warning: when the flavour was first launched in March 2024, it recieved mixed reviews from taste testers.

Snack critic @johns_snackreviews tried the Wotsits and Max options – he admitted both crisps have an overwhelming flavour – and it’s not spice.

He scored the new Wotsits flavour a measly 5.5/10, noting ‘lemon, lemon, lemon – that’s all I could taste.’

Penning his thoughts on Instagram, he said: ‘The coating is a dark covered chilli spice… the spice is decent tbf. The problem with these is there’s a dominant lemon flavour. It simply can’t be ignored.’

Sharing his Walkers Max review, he scored this one slightly higher at 6/10, adding: ‘The lemon aftertaste is lighter [but] is there though and just can’t be ignored.’

It’s worth pointing out that no lemon, or lemon flavouring, is on the list of ingredients on Max, Doritos, Wotsits or Classic crisps.

Others however, loved the flavour, and are sure to be excited by the next addition to the range. ‘These aren’t to be underestimated,’ said one Reddit user, who was impressed with the heat. While another said: ‘They are worlds apart from any other hot crisps available in the UK today, and the most enjoyable crisps I’ve eaten in years.’

If you want to give the new crisps a try for yourself, you’ll have to be quick: the range is limited edition, and is only available for eight weeks.

They’ll be available in 45g grab bags for £1.10, and 150g sharing bags for £1.65.
